Undergarment reusable packaging concept - school grad project
Solving problems at every step of the user journey.
I fell in love with 3D modeling at school. So even knowing it would take me way longer than my peers to finalize and render everything, I decided to take on the challenge and make my packaging grad project fully in Cinema4D.
The idea
The idea was to create a package for basics, like underwear and socks that customers could not only take the product home in but also re-use to organize their garments at home. Shelve to shelve.
The shape
The first inspiration came from honeycombs, and the modularity to be easily stacked in stores and at home, in drawers, or on shelves.
After a few sketches and physical prototypes the decision for the triangular shape, as the most simple and efficient one, was made.
Quick scannability
Some of the functions of packaging are to connect with the consumer at the point of purchase and to translate quickly what is inside.
The iconography. on the side of the boxes showcases the item and size and the box color translates the item color.
Test and transparency
One of the learnings during the process was that people generally like to feel the fabric of what they are purchasing when it comes to clothing; this is especially true of undergarments as they are directly related to personal comfort and direct contact with the skin.
This knowledge brought about the lid design for this packaging: it’s frosted and transparent to show the product color, and it features a cutout that allows users to feel the garment without over-handling it.
Fashion Packaging Now by Images Publishing
My project was featured in the book Fashion Packaging Now. The package design is highlighted by the editorial office Images Publishing. Initially featuring outstanding projects in architecture and interior design branches recently IMAGES has considerably widened the scope of its content. Today it is the world’s acknowledged leader offering qualitative full-color publications of the most successful works in landscape design, the fashion industry, photography, and graphic design.
Millions of design projects for such global brands as Puma, Adidas, Nike, etc. are annually accompanied by persuasive illustrations of the highest quality. Particular emphasis is placed on the fact that the package affects the integral perception of both the package and the given product in its most significant way. The innovative visualization engines provide the best delivery of advanced design concepts, the most relevant industrial and graphic design advice being also featured in the book. The fact also makes the book a powerful vivid platform for designers, brand managers, lecturers, and retail managers themselves.
